PRINCETON APPLICATION PORTFOLIO
MADE
MADE
This piece, written for three treble voices, is based on a single sentence of text from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Le Petit Prince: “Mais j’en ai fait mon amie, et il est maintenant unique au monde.” Choreographed by Mikayla Ellison Phillips.
KYRIE
[Click image to enlarge] Written for two undetermined instruments (here, clarinet and cello), piano, vibraphone, and voice. The graphic score was made in collaboration with Charles Shafer, architect. The mountains were modeled after Alaska’s Chugach Range, as seen from Anchorage; the ceiling is that of Thomaskirche in Leipzig. A higher quality image of the graphic score and two sample instrumental parts were uploaded directly to the online application’s “Musical Scores” section.
Hildegard Suite
from “Singularity.”
Three excerpts from a larger work: “Singularity. A scientific oratorio.” These three movements are based on chants written by Hildegard of Bingen. “Singularity” combines cosmological texts from religion, mythology, science, and human history while also combining musical forms and styles from the medieval to the modern day. Live recording from 2020 Hot Air Music Festival, San Francisco.
